Discover "The History of Recruiting": A New Resource by the CXR Foundation

We are pleased to introduce a comprehensive new online resource, "The History of Recruiting," created by the CXR Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the improvement and advancement of recruiting professionals everywhere. This well-researched guide, designed as a work-in-progress that can always be enhanced and added to, covers the evolution of the recruiting industry from the late 1800s to present day, offering valuable insights (and even some colorful commentary) for both experienced recruiters and those who may be new to the profession.

Under the editorial guidance of both @Gerry Crispin, co-founder of CareerXroads, and @Adela Schoolderman, Talent Acquisition Manager at Edwards Lifesciences and author of Candidate Experience: How to Improve Talent Acquisition to Drive Business Performance, the details and input from nearly 50 talent acquisition professionals to date has been delivered within this new "living" resource.

Describing why professionals in our industry should reflect on the twists and turns that recruiting and hiring has taken since the beginning of the second industrial revolution, Gerry noted, "Understanding the history of what has driven our profession allows recruiters to better navigate the challenges of today's ever-changing landscape. We aspire to create a resource that offers global context and insights to foster informed decision-making and drive innovation in talent acquisition."

12 Decades of Research and Hundreds of Historical Touchpoints.

The History of Recruiting explores hundreds of 'milestones' across more than 12 decades, providing a solid foundation for those looking to deepen their understanding of the recruiting industry.

You can always access the current version of this publication by visiting www.cxr.foundation/history. If you are passionate about recruiting and would like to contribute to this growing body of work, the CXR Foundation welcomes your input. All contributing authors and editors are credited within the resource, acknowledging their valuable expertise and effort.

We encourage you to explore "The History of Recruiting" and take advantage of this opportunity to enrich your knowledge of and contribute to what is now evolving into a stand-alone profession from its beginnings as a trade, craft, and HR function.
