In a recent report, Stanford researchers have urged tech giants like OpenAI and Google to prioritize transparency in their AI systems. The report, published on October 18, highlights the increasing importance of revealing how AI algorithms make decisions

Researchers stressed that as AI systems play a growing role in various aspects of our lives, including recruitment and talent acquisition, it's crucial to understand the underlying processes that guide these technologies. They argue that companies should be more open about their AI algorithms' decision-making processes and the data used to train them. The index tool assessed 10 popular models on transparency indicators, with Meta’s Llama 2 scoring highest, yet an unimpressive 53 out of 100, while Amazon’s Titan model was at the bottom of the list with a score of 11.

Join us in a push for greater transparency

This push for transparency comes as a response to concerns about AI bias and discrimination. By providing more clarity on AI systems' inner workings, companies can build trust with users and ensure that these technologies are used fairly and responsibly. We support the report's recommendations encouraging companies to enhance their transparency and to aid governments in regulations around the burgeoning AI field. As the tech industry continues to innovate, embracing transparency in AI can help ensure a more equitable and ethical application of these powerful technologies.

The report serves as a reminder of the evolving landscape in AI and the need for communities, like CareerXroads, to stay informed and engaged in the dialogue surrounding AI transparency. We are actively working with vendors in the TA space to understand how they are auditing their AI algorithms. We hope to have a series of working conversations with these vendors and third-party auditing services in an effort to establish a common set of standards. Interested in being part of this work?
